Yarm Rugby changing room improvements and refurbishment

(Durham)

Yarm Rugby operate out of 2 Portakabins following an arson attack on the previous buildings. These Portakabins have been in place for a number of years now and require improvements and refurbishment. There are currently teams from under 8’s up to the senior team who will benefit from the project as well as visiting teams and officials.

Our goals:

  • To provide appropriate shower and toilet facilities to all who use the changing rooms ensuring any health regulations are met.
  • To provide a welcoming place for players, visitors and officials to change so that it will help etain current players for longer and help encourage new players to attend and increase the number of childen playing sport.
  • Offer the changing rooms to the community for use outside of the rugby season and as additional facilities to the clubhouse.

How we will achieve our goals

The community award would allow for all refurbishment and improvement works to go ahead in one go meaning that instead of piece meal repairs and work carried out by well meaning individuals a fully qualified professional can be employed to complete the works to a higher standard meaning that the improvements will last for longer.

Where the money will go

Improvements will make this building a more welcoming place for players, both home and visiting to change in and improving the rugby experience. This is likely to lead to improved player retention and increased playing numbers. This in turn will improve the clubs financial position and make it more accessible to the local community.
