Triangle Judo Club
Our judo club has been running for 4 years, using rented mats. We want to buy our own mats and be able to offer judo lessons in local schools across the community and all age groups. The funding will benefit children in our whole area. Judo has a huge positive impact on fitness, confidence, respect, and is the “ideal sport for all kids” (UNESC0)
- The purchase of our own mats and van will enable us to teach judo in schools, taking the equipment where it is needed. Currently judo is not offered in schools as a sport, though our club has 2 kids' classes on a Saturday morning on our rented mats
- To improve the fitness, confidence levels and respect of all the children in our local community, tackling the problems of inactivity and obesity.
- UNESCO recently released a statement that judo is the ideal sport to be offered to all children aged 4-21 because of all benefits that it has, and with the Community Award we will be working towards that goal in our area.
How we will achieve our goals
We would be thrilled to be granted a Community Award – we could purchase mats and a van, we have a Level 2 coach and volunteers within the club who are ready to get this going.
Where the money will go
The local community will benefit from having judo lessons within schools. Kids who enjoy exercise and keep going will reap benefits all through their lives. I can’t really over-estimate the impact that this will have when children are given the option of doing judo in addition to the current team sports that they may or may not take part in.
