Theydon Bois run down community playground in need of love
(Essex)
The playground is a main hub in our community – it not only benefits 2-11yr olds but their carers, parents and family members that visit with them, providing a place to meet others, make friends, and build relationships. OneFamily support would enable the playground at Theydon association to purchase much needed, more inclusive equipment.
Our goals:
- The community award will enable our charity to provide not only a playground in an ever diminishing facility but also a more inclusive one with equipment that provides more play and social opportunities for disadvantaged and less abled children.
- To reinstate the facilities available to the 2-11yr olds and their carers in the community. Currently there are 4 large pieces of equipment left in what was once an award winning facility. These remaining pieces are rotting and in need of constant repair
- Restoring the area to its former glory of an award winning facility, one the community can be proud of. Not letting the space be put at risk of redevelopment for housing or similar projects.
How we will achieve our goals
Without this award we would not be able to purchase the much needed equipment to create a play haven for the ever growing population of young families in Theydon Bois. The existing facility, what’s left of it, has little shelf life left. When this has perished there’ll be no go-to place for young families within 3.5miles -accessible only by car.
Where the money will go
Together we will provide a safe secure play haven for young children from all walks of life providing them with opportunities to improve their health , well being and spiritual being in a social, interactive and exciting space where the equipment will stimulate imagination and physicality. Where families can share precious moments together.

What a great cause and well done to all those on the committee for all the hard work you put into such a loved community facility. It’d be so sad to see it deteriorate further even go for good. Keep up the hard work x

Such a good idea – especially if it encourages the mixing of kids from a variety of backgrounds in the Theydon Bois area.

Thank you to everyone that makes the Playground such a wonderful safe place for our children to play.
My two grown up children enjoyed playing there for many years and now my youngest daughter age (6) enjoys it too.
Without the 10 people who give up their time to look after it and raise funds to maintain and improve it our children would not have such a lovely village based play area to play. Plus it’s a great place for parents to make new friends with other parents too.
May this beautiful playground be here forever for us all young and old to enjoy ❤️
