Blackpool Carers Centre – The Hideout
To transform an unused cabin in our tranquil gardens into a sensory room that can be accessed by young people with additional needs and disabilities from the local community. It would also include a sensory library which would allow parents/carers a time limited loan of equipment to trial the products. It will benefit both carers and the cared for.
- To enable young people with disabilities the opportunity to spend quality time with their family in a calming environment
- To equip Parent Carers with the skills and knowledge to better manage their caring role
- Parent Carers to feel better supported within their caring role
How we will achieve our goals
The project would equip the existing space with sensory equipment, providing an accessible sensory room to enable the young people access to an appropriate environment. It would also pay for additional equipment to loan enabling parents to better manage their caring role. It would also provide a supportive environment for parents to access support.
Where the money will go
Parent Carers will be able to regularly access the facility with their son/daughter. It will enable us to offer support for toddlers with disabilities and fill a gap in services. It would reduce the prohibitive cost of equipment for carers. Local community groups will also be able to access the facility.
