[email protected] - tablets for engaging learning

(Midlothian)

The OneFamily Foundation’s support will buy technology equipment to help over 650 primary school children aged from 4 to 12 years old at Sciennes Primary School in Edinburgh. We will buy mini tablet computers for nearly a whole class of 32 pupils, enabling use of a wide range of digital tools to help develop their learning, thinking and digital skills.

Our goals:

  • Increase availability of technology to support engaging learning, by providing 32 mini tablet computers for a class of school pupils, boosting the number of tablets available to our 650 pupils.
  • Increase children’s participation and learning of digital skills through, for example, providing hands on computer science. Tablets will support learning across all school subjects. The learning possibilities are limitless.
  • Inspire, engage and build awareness of pupils and their families for technology based opportunities, including digital safety information.

How we will achieve our goals

With a set of tablets for one class of 32 pupils, we can share these across a whole year stage of children. This will offer engaging and limitless learning opportunities to a whole year who currently do not have any tablet devices.

Where the money will go

Choosing to support our project provides pupils with an effective device to enhance learning at many levels. The way we use mini tablets is as a tool that works across all learning levels and abilities, and benefits teachers, teaching, learners and learning. Tablets support every level of the curriculum.
