St Nicholas Play and Learn
We would be using the funding to start up and run weekly Play and learn sessions for the local residents of Stevenage and surrounding towns. These classes are to help families to be more beneficially involved in the child’s development and to feel more confident in their own abilities to be parents.
- Enhance parenting skills and knowledge through a number of workshops on a weekly basis.
- This group will also increase community cohesion and reduction social isolation of residents with small children
- The parenting group will also encourage the parents to play out in the garden with the children. Teaching them how to play with their children in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. These skills can then be transferred to other park setting.
How we will achieve our goals
Without the Community Award we wouldn’t be able to achieve this project, as the community centre does not have adequate funding.
Where the money will go
The children and families that live locally to the community centre have a very high level of poverty which restricts them from travelling too far. If we can give them more opportunities at the centre to gain knowledge and confidence as a parent then we believe this is improve the local community involvement and reduce crime in the future.
