Singing for Wellbeing
We wish to set up 2 Singing for Wellbeing groups to benefit older people with dementia in Farnborough and Eastleigh. The groups will bring people together in a friendly environment. A trained instructor will lead the groups. Singing provides a way for people with dementia to express themselves and can reduce feelings of anxiety and loneliness.
- Providing a safe, friendly and stimulating environment for people with dementia and their carers to socialise together
- Enabling people with dementia in Eastleigh and Farnborough to express themselves through music and singing, led by a trained instructor
- Reducing feelings of loneliness and isolation amongst 25 people with dementia and their carers at each session in Eastleigh and Farnborough

How we will achieve our goals
An award would enable us to set up two Sing for Wellbeing groups in Hampshire, in Eastleigh and Farnborough. An award would enable us to hire two venues and the trained instructors to run the Singing for Wellbeing groups for a year, supporting people living with dementia by providing singing and music in a stimulating, social environment.
Where the money will go
The project will provide older people living with dementia (and their carers) in Eastleigh and Farnborough with a friendly group to attend that would use singing to help them to express themselves and reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation. Carers would also be able to support one another in this safe environment.
