Sensory Fun For All for Kangaroos
We wish to buy an inclusive Tilt and Touch Screen which will adjust for height and to an angle and has a fully featured touch table making it easy to accommodate all users, including those in wheelchairs. It is compact, adaptable and transportable.
- To increase social skills of disabled children and young people by giving opportunities to all abilities to play and learn together at the same level and develop turn taking skills.
- To improve independence and confidence of disabled children and young people. As the equipment is very accessible for all ages and abilities, they can play on it without much reliance and help from carers
- To create a sensory area, to be used to calm children with autism and/or challenging behaviour or engage children with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
How we will achieve our goals
This piece of equipment will have multiple uses and will benefit all 200+ children and young people with disabilities and complex medical needs who access Kangaroos. Disabilities include learning disabilities, autism, visual and hearing impairments, challenging behaviour and complex medical needs and wheelchair users.
Where the money will go
Disabled young people spend a much higher proportion of their time with their parents or carers, have less opportunities to socialise outside of school or college and maintain friendships in the same way that their peers would do. Kangaroos provides opportunities to address this by offering social and leisure opportunities throughout the year.
