Seeing is Hearing
This project is for people of all ages, whether old, young, male or female with hearing loss. The Teacher teaches in a very relaxed atmosphere, teaching lip reading and finger spelling, giving confidence to each and everyone. Opening new doors to people who would not socialise due to their deafness.
- To give deafened people a chance to be able to read peoples lips by learning all the different phonetics and which ones are more difficult.
- To give deafened people more confidence to go out and socialise, giving more interaction with people and being more confident.
- To give deafened people a new lease of life with social interaction
How we will achieve our goals
We are applying now to OneFamily for a new project to be undertaken which will tackle the concerns with hearing loss and dementia – the perceived similarities and differences – and how deafened people can manage the situation.
Where the money will go
The project will benefit the community by helping people who have hearing loss to come out of themselves and into the hearing world giving them confidence to interact with the hearing world and become part of it again which in turn could help with any illnesses they might have, and giving back into the community with helping others.
