Salisbury Rugby Football Club

(Wiltshire)

The project is to provide sheltered seating for those supporting their teams, whether they are from the local Wiltshire community or from visiting teams. Teams are from thriving 450+ strong Mini/Junior sections, the ever more popular Ladies section, over 50s walking rugby contingent, up to the 1st XV, currently competing in the National SW league.

Our goals:

  • A successful application would fund the provision of much needed accessible spectator seating as the current facilities are only a small corrugated shelter on a rather steep bank beside the pitch or pitch-side standing behind the railings.
  • We need to provide a comfortable and safe environment for our disabled supporters. Also we want to encourage every generations but as current facilities have no shelter we are limiting it to those who are willing/able to stand in bad weather.
  • Provide better facilities available not only for use by our ever growing membership but only open up the possibility of making it available for use by the Salisbury wide sporting community and schools, colleges, etc.

How we will achieve our goals

The Community Award would enable the stands to be installed which otherwise would not be achievable.

Where the money will go

Provide a premier facility for the local rugby community, but also one that could be made available for wider use by local community projects, schools, colleges etc. to encourage team work and promote an active lifestyle.

A fantastic and worthwhile project for this truly community club which will enable the elderly, infirmed and disabled members of the public to watch the games in comfort.

A great opportunity to help Salisbury Rugby Club look after their supporters and provide accessible facilities for the wider community to utilise. The current crop of young rugby players that run around every Sunday morning are very lucky that their Club looks out for future so that they can reap the benefits of such a project as they progress through the year groups. Good luck SRFC; this will make such a difference providing first class sports facilities in Salisbury!!

Salisbury Rugby Club is truly a community club and encourages all to be involved in the club and take part in rugby if able.

The club desperately needs this so all members of the Salisbury community & surrounding villages can come & watch the games held here. The grounds are completely exposed & offer no shelter or respite for those with mobility restraints & the older supporters.
We truly hope you can support this much needed cause.

Ther are many stalwarts of the club who support less frequently due to age ,mobility and back problems made worse by wet / windy weather experienced on a very exposed pitch. Please support this probject to help existing members and encourage new ones.Thank you.
