Ribby Hall Rhythmic Gymnastics Club

(Lancashire)

Ribby Hall Rhythmic Gymnastics Club is a small yet very successful group of gymnasts who have both individuals and groups competing at the British Championships. Two of the girls were this year selected to be in the Junior GB squad for Rhythmic Gymnastics. We receive no funding for any of our equipment or fees and relying on parents and family.

Our goals:

  • To provide a new, suitable carpet for the squad to train on. The squad currently train on 3 rolls of household carpet. This is not ideal as it is not the correct thickness or size and wears out quickly. A professional competition carpet would allow the girls to train safely and also provide them with the correct size area to hone their routines. As we now have girls competing at the British Championships and in the Junior GB squad this is now even more of a necessity to allow them the best chance to progress.
  • For all girls to have suitable training equipment. Professional gymnastics equipment is very expensive and currently parents are funding this provision. This makes it restrictive for some parents and prevents some girls from being able to continue with training. Funding would mean that everyone could have the correct equipment and clothing and would allow all to access this sport regardless of their financial situation.
  • To provide a fund for competition fees. Girls currently have two sessions a week provided by and payable to the leisure club at Ribby Hall. Additional squad training sessions are run by the squad coach independently. Girls have to pay, in addition to the sessions provided by the leisure centre. A fund towards this additional training would allow all to access sessions regardless of their financial situation.

How we will achieve our goals

Currently the girls train on 3 rolls of household carpet! A competitive carpet would allow us to train safely and prepare better for competitions. Approved gymnastics equipment and competition fees are very expensive. A grant would allow all to have the correct equipment. We would also like to get the squad girls tracksuits to wear when competing.

Where the money will go

We would like to support the squad to reach their full potential. With support and funding Ribby Hall Rhythmic Gymnastics Club has the potential to create gymnastics stars of the future. By attending the club we are encouraging a healthy lifestyle and developing a work ethic for the girls involved. They inspire others with their dedication.
