Red Admiral Music Academy
Red Admiral Music Academy aims to teach people (children and adults) to play brass instruments in a fun and friendly environment. We’ve been going 3 years and now have over 70 members aged 6 – 70+. All taught by a team of top level brass musicians, all volunteers. Many family groups enjoy an activity that they can all participate in.
- To allow the progression of our players without being held back by the quality of the basic starter level instruments and to expand our range of percussion instruments again allowing players to progress and to improve the music quality performed.
- to allow Red Admiral Music Academy to continue to grow by making the existing instruments available to new starters therefore enabling more people to benefit through learning to play brass. We've grown from 15 - 70 in 3 years and have more waiting.
- To enable RAMA to enter more competitions and events through playing at a higher standard. This provides greater opportunity and experience for our players and promotes our organisation. We became British Brass Band Entertainment Champions 2017.
How we will achieve our goals
Using a Community Award will allow us to upgrade the main instruments for our ‘top band’ in one go rather than having to fund raise through our concerts for each individual instrument which will take several years.
Where the money will go
Our members further develop their skills, playing ability and confidence. The quality of music we produce is increased therefore benefiting the wider community that listen to us. The additional instruments will be re-used with new starters giving more members of the community to learn to play brass instruments in a fun and friendly environment.
