Parkview Primary's Outdoor Learning Area
We would be delighted to use this funding to create an outdoor seating area for all the pupils at Parkview Primary. The project called, Parkview Primary’s Outdoor Learning Area would enable lessons to be carried out outside. This would give the teachers the chance to teach the pupils more about their environment and environmental issues first hand.
- Our main objective would be teach the children that outdoor learning allows participants to develop values and opinions that are informed by experiencing the natural world. Many pupils who struggle in a classroom environment can thrive outdoors.
- Allowing our pupils to learn outside in all weathers can be very good for the mind and body. It can increase physical health and well being, Increase vitamin D levels, encourage a positive relationship with the outdoors and improve social skills.
- We would like to enhance the learning environment for our pupils who have additional support needs.Outdoor activities and hearing the sound of nature can decrease stress levels and sometimes an indoor classroom can be an over stimulating environment.
How we will achieve our goals
We would use the funding to buy the Outdoor Seating, Sunshade and some planters too. This would give our school an additional learning area that would add such a positive dynamic to the school day for our pupils. We would hope that our children would look forward to their outdoor lessons and allow them to develop their cognitive abilities.
Where the money will go
This will encourage all the children who attend Parkview to be team players and take more of an interest in their surroundings. Developing these social skills as a child has a major impact on an individuals mental health and wellbeing and will follow them through to adulthood thus having an impact on the wider community in the future.
