Music Man Project

(Avon)

To offer regular, permanent music education to local people with learning disabilities rather than one-off workshops, that teaches pure music education for its own sake (as opposed to Music Therapy).

Our goals:

  • Create a platform to raise awareness about the incredible difference music can make, and access and nurture the innate musicality in everyone, regardless of their disability.
  • To provide inspirational performances both individually and collaboratively with other community groups which give a voice to our musicians and educate the wider community.
  • Enhance emotional well-being, basic skill development, self-discipline, teamwork, co-ordination, communication and social skills.

How we will achieve our goals

We are a completely self-funded local charity and rely on donations, grants and membership fees to operate as we are. If were awarded a community award

Where the money will go

It was identified that there was a gap in our provision for offering much sort after music sessions. This project will enable us to provide the means, equipment and expertise required to fill this gap, raise awareness via public performances and further integrate our members into the community.
