Mayflower Performing Arts Charity
Mayflower Performing Arts Charity offers young people from the age of 5 the opportunity to be part of the UK’s most successful colourguard. Staffed by volunteers, members develop skills in dance, performance, fitness, equipment, team building and self determination. We are inclusive and operate in a recognised deprived area of Essex.
- Purchase of this new equipment will enable greater numbers to be involved in the group. Without suitable amounts of safe equipment, members may be turned away. Current membership is in excess of 50 young people.
- This equipment will allow staff and members to explore a wider and more current skill set, thus maintaining interest and encouraging all involved to evolve and challenge themselves.
- New and updated equipment will ensure that members are safe. As equipment ages, it wears and over a period of time this becomes unsafe to use. As a result all equipment is monitored and replaced after a couple of years use.
How we will achieve our goals
Assistance to purchase the equipment detailed in the estimate would ensure that as many young people that want to, can partake in our activities run by volunteers. It is a simple case of ‘without the equipment’ young people will miss out on amazing opportunities.
Where the money will go
Mayflower performing arts charity rehearse in Basildon which has areas of recognised deprivation. This equipment will enable more children to become involved in an activity that enhances their life skills, fitness and social belonging. Staff who volunteer wish to continue to contribute to the wellbeing of their organisation and wider community.
