Loxley Silver Band and Training Band
Loxley Band would like to develop a concert standard percussion section. With over 40 regular players aged from 10 to 80 it is estimated that the band will perform to well over 4000 people in 2015. All current and future band members and audiences for many decades to come would benefit from the project.
- To offer a full traditional brass band sound and play a wider range of music at a number of different community and charity events each year.
- To rehearse and perform with concert standard instruments similar to those provided at band contests. The band currently doesn't even own a set of cymbals to crash together.
- To offer a musical education to any member of the community. Both adults and children alike would be encouraged to join the band. Learners at all levels could develop musical and life skills such as teamwork, self confidence, and of course have fun.
How we will achieve our goals
The award would enable the band to purchase a set of tubular bells, a glockenspiel and stand, cymbals and smaller percussion items, for use by both the Senior Band and Training Band.
Where the money will go
The band performs regularly at many local charity and community events such as Christmas celebrations, summer fayres, galas, park bandstands and music festivals. The project would enable both senior and training bands to improve their sound quality and attract new members, thus significantly improving the quality of experience for all audiences.
