Let's Play Project, Banbury

Let’s Play is a respected charity providing after-school and holiday activities for over 100 disabled children in Oxfordshire. It wants to help more families and has acquired new, larger premises from September 2017. The “Let’s Play Big-Build Appeal” needs funding to transform the building into a safe, fun, engaging and inspirational space.

Our goals:

  • To allow more families access to existing services, by a) adding extra places at after-school, holiday, youth group and 18+ activities and b) expanding the current ability to match parents/ carers with staff so that they may access private respite.
  • To add new services: term time day activities for 18+ young people once they have left full time education; facilitate a parent/carer & disabled toddler group and provide new support groups for siblings and families.
  • The previous two objectives can only be achieved with the renovation of our new building. The award would be a significant amount towards our target that would avoid delay and provide the most fundamental elements of kitchen and flooring.

How we will achieve our goals

The new building that has been acquired for use has no working kitchen or suitable flooring. Obviously this is essential for a centre offering any kind of social care. They represent some of the largest expenses we are facing. The award would enable us to avoid any delay in moving into the new building.

Where the money will go

The project will benefit at least 20 more families (a 20% increase) across Oxfordshire via the expansion of its existing services; and, additionally per week – 12 18+ young people, 12 siblings, 10 parent & toddlers and unlimited families as part of its new services and support groups. Everyone at Let’s Play will benefit from the new facilities.

This service gave my son a place where he belongs, where he has friends and where everyone knows exactly what he needs. It would’ve been very difficult to manage his free time and school holidays if it wasn’t for lets play

This place has been a lifeline to me and my children. Both my boys have special needs and are unable to access mainstream activities outside of school. Lets Play is a place where the boys are able to play in a safe environment and staff that are able to deal with their unpredictable behaviours.
