Hospice Social Care Space

(Antrim)

The project will benefit people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and their families in Northern Ireland. Care provided in the new purpose built Hospice on Somerton Road in Belfast is of the highest standard but we urgently need new equipment to provide a comfortable and safe environment of patients, families, volunteers and staff

Our goals:

  • Provide comfort and care to patients who need social work interventions to help them deal with their diagnosis or that of their loved ones.
  • Provide a comfortable environment for patients and families as they attend the in-patient unit through provision of specialist chairs and other furniture to make their time more hospitable.
  • To limit the amount of furniture moving and shortages in hospice creating a burden for staff and volunteers and risking injury to the safe transporting large and bulky items
£10k project Currently ranked 24 in Health, Disability and Social Care

How we will achieve our goals

The award would enable us to purchase this much needed equipment to help the Hospice serve the large number of people who use our In-patient unit and social work services. The award will make an instant transformation to the quality of care and hospitality in Hospice and ensure doctors, nurses and care staff can spend more time with patients

Where the money will go

The Northern Ireland Hospice enjoys great support from the community in Northern Ireland serving adult and children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. We have over 1,000 volunteers pledging support each year and enjoy a high profile in the community in Northern Ireland.
