Fish - Fitting and Finishing our Community Activities Space
Each week we receive elderly people who attend a coffee morning. Our facilities are struggling to meet their catering and toilet requirements. We also welcome babies, toddlers and parents who attend preschool activities. Child friendly facilities that are more modern and close to our main hall would be very beneficial and make supervision easier.
- To expand our provision to the elderly within our immediate community. Social isolation is becoming more of an issue within the locality. Providing a quiet comfortable area for social interaction, light meal provision and a listening ear will help.
- Young carers and parents from many countries attend pre school and play group activities during the week. Having access to a new community activities space will develop mutual support, understanding and provide space for art/craft and refreshments
- We are seeking to expand our provision to young people and teenagers. Currently about 30 take part weekly in activities. By providing a relaxed more reflective area we are hoping to address some of their concerns in a more modern self contained room
How we will achieve our goals
Our new building will be finished this year but due to an unexpected rise in building costs, we have insufficient funds to fit, equip and finish it. We will be therefore be unable to use it to its full potential. The equipment listed will make the new area (an additional 90 square metres) comfortable and usable by young and old alike from day 1.
Where the money will go
The Church was built in the 1980’s and is showing its age. We provide a community space for the very young (e.g. Tumbletots, Tiny Treasures), space for art, craft and musical activities as well as the weekly provision of tea and cake. We have recently had an Art Exhibition, provided a debt counselling service and helped the Parish Council Open Day
