First Aid Course for Volunteers
A 3 year Paediatric First aid course for 36 volunteers to gain confidence in dealing with any emergency situation that may arise when working with families with young children. Currently we have 125 volunteers supporting 256 families and 585 children.
- To give volunteers life long skills paediatric first aid and improving the health and welfare of families and children in an emergency situation.
- Volunteers will gain knowledge and confidence around emergency situations
- Families will have enhanced support knowing that the volunteer has been trained in First Aid and would be able to recognise an emergency situation, particularly in involving a child.
How we will achieve our goals
We would hire a trainer from Total Care to deliver First Aid training. The course would be held at our office which is convenient for volunteers and we would monitor the confidence of the trained volunteers pre and post the course.Using out office makes it easier for volunteers to attend as we can be flexible in timings that are convenient for all.
Where the money will go
Increase competency and knowledge of parent volunteers to use First Aid when needed and make for a safer community. Increased social cohesion as volunteers recognise that First Aid is a skill that can be learned and used to benefit all, but in particular with disabled children and/ or disabled adults.
