- Reducing Parental Isolation – helping parents to feel they are not on their own, and their experiences are shared with others.
- Improving parent-child relationships – helping parents to develop attachment with their child.
- Increasing parent’s knowledge of how to manage their mental health difficulty.
How we will achieve our goals
We will be able to offer a counselling service over a 12 month period to support parents. Our BACP accredited counsellor will help parents deeply affected by historical and entrenched difficulties, including those related to birth trauma, which have had a significant emotional, neurological and cognitive effect on them.
Where the money will go
These parents are highly vulnerable community members, and their children’s positive development and health depend on whether their parents receive the right support early on. Children can become stressed and insecure, and develop behaviour which is difficult to manage. Early help can prevent long term difficulties and a higher risk of mental ill health in the child.
