Cornwall athletics club

We require a new pole vault bed and high jump bed as the existing ones are no longer fit for use. The new equipment will benefit our athletes who we are encouraging to learn the vault and help our ranking athletes to achieve high standards in competition.

Our goals:

  • To provide children, young adults and disabled youngsters with a facility to train in all the athletic disciplines which the schools are quite often unable to do.
  • To encourage youngsters to take part in competition and mix with other athletes from different clubs. By doing this the youngsters gain confidence which we are sure will benefit them in their schooling and later when the time comes for them to apply for jobs in the work place.
  • To visit the local schools and keep them informed of the facilities on offer at our Saturday athletics club and the competitions which the school children can enter. The clubs coaches all give there time and do not get paid. The club produces a monthly newsletter which would provide a good way of notifying the schools of forthcoming events and competitions. Olympic champions all started at school level and perhaps with the right effort we will be able to produce some from Cornwall!

How we will achieve our goals

The award if received would enable the club to purchase equipment the we desperately need to replace, if we cannot get the new equipment that we need we will no longer be able to carry on with the pole vault and high jump, as the existing equipment will no longer meet health and safety regulations.

Where the money will go

We can encourage children from local schools to try out athletics at our club and to mix with other children which will give them confidence in their future schooling and eventuality in their work place.

I spent over 4000 hours of my childhood at this track. I used the pv and high jump mats that they need to replace. This club helped shape the person I am today and they are developing the best young pole vaulters of this country – our future Olympic hopefuls. So please vote now!

My two boys (10 & 12) have just started here about a month or so ago and already love the club. In that time they have been introduced to many aspects of athletics and are keen every week to be ready and come to the weekly sessions.
The coaches and volunteers that help organise and run the meets are amazing and without the dedication to the sport they love, running this club would not be possible. Along with this is obviously the need for good equipment. I have voted for Cornwall Athletics club to receive this funding because I can see the passion and drive that the coaches and helpers are putting in each week as well as the fun and enthusiasm that all the kids show when taking part. Well done to you all for a great club!

Very worthy cause and great to see so many young, old and not so old that use the facilities. My son uses the facilities and loves the club. Whilst there I have watched the volters and they are very impressive, one of which I believe is at the top of her age group and is superb. Please support.
