Community Garden Beeston Canalside
This garden is for all to enjoy, providing a calm space and somewhere all members of the community can become involved in. A volunteer gardening group is forming. There will also be wider learning opportunities, how to prune, how to garden sustainably, propagation techniques, wildlife gardening, how to use your produce etc.
- The space and the plans are there but we need to get the garden into better shape through landscaping, and planting as well as pieces of essential furniture for visitors and our school groups to enjoy and utilise the space.
- By providing the tools to work in the garden, or encouraging people to bring their own, we want everyone to be able to get involved with planting and maintaining. This is to provide a setting for the main activity area.
- We want people to know what’s going on and how to get involved through a noticeboard and chalkboard with daily activities. There is a volunteer film maker already committed who will use the web site to promote garden work wider.
How we will achieve our goals
Our aim is to create a community resource that’s open to all and run by volunteers so people can enjoy it for free. The sensory garden will consist of an orchard, wildflowers, a viewpoint and place for people to relax and enjoy.
Where the money will go
Beeston Rylands is a strong community with no welcoming garden at its heart. The gardens will provide people with a place to meet friends, for children to enjoy and watch the world go by. It’s also a place where the community can get involved in maintaining the allotments and help to make the Bargees garden a special place.
