Chingford School of Tennis
Chingford School of Tennis Club is a club and coaching facility for the local community where anyone can play and learn to play tennis. It has 6 acrylic tarmac courts. From October to May every winter the club inflates a 3-court dome. This is an indoor facility which allows a large number of users to play regularly throughout the year.
- Improving the quality and appearance of the courts will ensure there is an appealing tennis offer at the club for participants that are new to the game and those that are returning.
- Improvements to the courts will enhance the enjoyment and tennis experience of regular users as the age of the current paintwork means the courts become slippery in places when damp.
- Prolonging the life of the tennis courts will help to ensure that an all year round, all weather, playing, coaching and training facility continues to be provided for the local community.
How we will achieve our goals
The money from the award will be used to invest in improvements to the tennis courts. The courts need repainting after 16 years of use. Repainting the tennis court surfaces is needed to improve the existing worn surfaces and in order to enhance the appearance and surface grip and meet playing standards which are set out by tennis governing bodies.
Where the money will go
The club attracts a diverse range of users (including many children, women, older people and beginners). Approximately 90 junior and adult members use the courts on a regular weekly basis. The club offers court hire to adult non-members (66 regular users). There are currently 284 regular weekly adults and juniors attending coaching classes.
