Chadsgrove Special School: A playground for everyone.

(Worcestershire)

Chadsgrove is an outstanding school which is passionate about providing the very best for its 120 pupils, all of whom have physical needs. Their playground needs desperate refurbishment to provide a safe and inclusive play area for these pupils, their siblings and other children in the local community.

Our goals:

  • To provide a safe, inclusive and high quality play area which is fully wheelchair accessible that can be used by school pupils and groups from the local community.
  • To install a wheelchair accessible sand play area and mirror and music wall panels which means the playground would have something to offer all children, enabling them to enjoy being outdoors and benefit from all the rewards of play.
  • To resurface the playground with wheelchair friendly surfaces to create a safe play environment which fosters access to play as independently as possible.

How we will achieve our goals

A Community Award would enable the playground to be refurbished and new play equipment installed. Members of the school’s student council have made new play equipment their top priority and the award would enable them to be part of the process of designing a safe, fun and accessible playground for everyone.

Where the money will go

This project would have a huge impact on the pupils in the school in addition to children in the wider community; providing them with an environment where they can play as independently as possible enabling them to learn, socialise, relax and most importantly have fun!
