Camelsdale Primary School Junior Climbing Challenge
Camelsdale Primary School would like to provide play equipment specifically for the older children in the school from ages 8 to 11 years. Currently this group do not have play equipment which challenges their physical and mental dexterity. A giant spacenet will help us to provide this challenge and encourage them to be active and collaborative.
- At Camelsdale Primary School our 8 to 11 year olds do not have play equipment which challenges their physical development. A giant spacenet will help us to provide this challenge and encourage physical activity.
- Once the equipment is installed, numerous Camelsdale climbing challenges can be set for each of the older age groups as individuals and teams. This will encourage better collaboration, team work and help develop self-confidence.
- The equipment will be in use every day at all 3 play times by 130 children as well as used in physical education as part of our outdoor and adventurous work. It mirrors the equipment our link school in Spain uses and thus promotes our cultural link.
How we will achieve our goals
The award would enable us to purchase and install the equipment including the necessary safety surface. Without the award, we will not have challenging play equipment for 130 junior pupils as we do not have funding from West Sussex to meet this need. This is an important step in our grounds development and is an identified weakness of the school.
Where the money will go
The school and wider community in Camelsdale will benefit from the equipment as it will last for several years. 130 current year 3 to year 6 children will enjoy the spacenet. It will be available for our after school club. Our local guides and scouts and our holiday play scheme which runs every school holiday will also use it.
