Bottisham Swimming Club: On Your Blocks
The project will help replace old equipment with new safe modern equipment at Bottisham Swimming Club and to invest in essential training resources to help all our swimmers develop their full potential. Bottisham is a friendly swimming club affiliated to Swim England with around 100 swimmers aged 8 to 18.
- - purchase a set of starting blocks for Impington Village College pool where Bottisham train twice a week; these blocks will be available for community use and use by Cambridge Triathlon Club.
- - Improve the skills and enjoyment of swimming of all club members by investing in training aids such as training mats, dumbells, pull buoys, hand paddles.
- - Invest in a portable starting mechanism with claxon sound and flashing light suitable for use even by swimmers with sight or hearing impediments.
How we will achieve our goals
Purchasing a set of starter blocks (£4,500) is beyond the resources of the club without external support; a Community Award would allow the capital investment in infrastructure to support the future training needs of the club in a way which is not possible through regular subscription fees.
Where the money will go
Bottisham Swimming Club fosters the talent of young people across a wide range of ages and will do so more effectively as a result of this project. The club also supports parents to train as timekeepers and judges to support the wider Swim England community in the East of England through Bottisham parents volunteering at Open Meets as officials.
