Help Gospel Oak kids blow their own trumpets!
We are Gospel Oak Primary School brass band. There are 120 of us, aged 9 to 11, and we make a big, joyful noise! Without the band, few of us could afford to learn to play an instrument. Together we play, learn, and perform – overcoming challenges, building aspiration, and having a chance to shine.
- To secure our inspirational brass band's future by buying instruments we currently hire and slashing running costs.
- To enable 120 children every year to learn, play and perform together in our brass band.
- To enable over 750 people each year to enjoy the children's playing at performances in school and across the local community
How we will achieve our goals
Tightening budgets are threatening the band’s future. We currently hire instruments to play. This makes up a big part of the band’s running costs. We would use a community award to buy instruments, slash running costs, and keep our band playing now, and into the future. Every instrument we buy will support children for 10 years.
Where the money will go
Children tell us that playing in the band helps them overcome challenges, makes them proud, improves their learning, builds their aspirations for the future, and gives them an opportunity to shine. Without the brass band, few could afford to learn an instrument, and this opportunity would be lost. We want to keep playing, and blow our own trumpets!
