Aelwyd Cynwyl Elfed

(Dyfed)

Aelwyd Cynwyl Elfed is a youth organisation for 10 to 25 year olds. It involves group activities, outings, helping in the community, and has some disabled members who are included in all activities. The non profit organisation which has some less able members is run by volunteers who have benefited from the organisation themselves when they were members. They also compete at the Eisteddfod, and they are always learning new skills.

Our goals:

  • To provide costumes for learning a new skill which will be used to entertain the members and also community at Eisteddfods and in concerts and local shows. Dancing keeps the members fit and good discipline learning new social skills.
  • The weekly Folk Dancing practices keep the members who are aged 10 to 26 occupied. Learning traditional Welsh dances while speaking the Welsh Language keeping the Welsh culture alive, which is embedded in the local community.
  • To benefit the community by bringing them together for the Folk Dancing concerts and Eisteddfods provided by by Aelwyd Cynwyl Elfed. This keeps the close knit community together.
