(East Riding of Yorkshire)
This project will provide a year of Hydrotherapy for disabled children and young people to enjoy with their families. There is currently no provision of this nature in the region, which means families miss out on swimming which has massive physical and sensory benefits to the disabled person and promotes bonding and relationships with the families
- To improve physical health by providing the opportunity to access Hydrotherapy swimming sessions in an accessible venue. Hydrotherapy is a non weight bearing excersise that has been proven to relieve pain from stiffness and increase joint mobility
- To improve emotional wellbeing- parent carers are able to access and enjoy Hydrotherapy swimming with their disabled child/ young person which they have not been able to access previously. This promotes bonding and enjoyment for families
- To decrease isolation for disabled people and their families. These sessions will give people a reason to leave the house, somewhere to go where they can socialise with peers and have meaningful and inclusive experiences outside of their homes.
How we will achieve our goals
With this funding we will be able to implement these sessions and recreational Hydrotherapy could be available to anyone caring for a disabled child or young person in the region.
Where the money will go
This funding would vastly improve the quality of life for many families caring for a disabled child / young person. Currently there are no recreational Hydrotherapy sessions available in the region and so families miss out on swimming which gives many physical and emotional benefits as described above.
