Access Community Training Project

Working in an area of high deprivation we run a training activities for local people. This includes IT skills, e-commerce, admin, financial and electronic media. People of all ages come and use our services who are either unemployed or want to better their employment chances. Many of them find work as a result of our help and support.

Our goals:

  • Provide over 3,000 hours of work/experience training hours over the next 12 months.
  • Set up a public area of 3 or 4 computers where people can use a number of computers for internet traning courses, job searches, CV writing etc, for use during the next 12 months.
  • Establish new courses using Apple Mac's and portable devices to extend training offering over the next 12 months.

How we will achieve our goals

We would use the money to renew some of our ageing IT equipment and also buy some new equipment that will help us extend our training into new areas.

Where the money will go

In an area which has traditionally depended on a (now declined) manufacturing sector, Access provides vital opportunities for local people to extend their skills, gain work experience and develop self-confidence. Many trainees go on to find jobs or start a business. This project would enable Access to continue this work and extend it into new areas.
