Abinger Common Nursery
Abinger Common Nursery requires funding to improve the outdoor learning provision by providing free flow access to a safe and stimulating environment. The nursery is an Ofsted registered, not for profit organisation with charitable status, providing exceptional care and learning to children aged 2 to 4 living in the villages surrounding the Nursery.
- Provide a safe outdoor environment: We are planning to re-surface the wood chipped area in our Nursery garden with wet pour. Providing a natural looking base and a safer more suitable surface for the children when actively exploring the outdoors area
- Provide a more stimulating outdoor learning environment: By installing new play equipment the children will be able to engage in a broader range of physical activity & so support & encourage them to develop their physical abilities & awareness.
- Encourage the children to appreciate & explore the natural environment: Through staff Forest School training children are encouraged to try more risky activities e.g. tree climbing & building fires, creating a sense of excitement and adventure
How we will achieve our goals
The community award would contribute towards the renovation and extension of the outdoor play area with a proportion reserved for Forest School training for the existing nursery practitioners. This would allow the nursery to continue the Forest School provision without ongoing costs of contracting an outside practitioner.
Where the money will go
The Nursery is based in the local village hall & anyone using the hall would also have access to the improved outdoor facilities. Additionally, the nursery is set in a rural location and provides a vital service to local families with reduced access to transport. The nursery is crucial in providing the families with learning & social opportunities.
